In Opal, we got to see the relationship between Adam and Ronan in someone else’s perspective. Opal hated this small animal world and all its small, limiting rules. Stiefvater’s characters are just so well developed, it’s hard to not like anyone, really. And somehow that little twist about him is just so much sweeter because it’s nothing what I could have expected from such a “rough around the edges” character. It wasn’t really possible for me to not like this novella, because I loved The Raven Boys, and from his first scene where he tells Gansey that he didn’t take notes for him because he thought Gansey was dead in a ditch, I already knew Ronan Lynch was going to be my favorite.
